So I got the new job and started on Friday. I like the people…like the location…and the work doesn’t seem terribly frustrating, so I think this is a good thing. It will be nice to not have to worry about money anymore, and it will be really nice to have my weekends free again. And paid holidays…and vacation…and sick leave…and insurance…and a retirement account…oh yeah.
Seriously, though — I do miss being the owner of the neighborhood coffeehouse, but hey — you can’t have everything, right? And it’s nice to get dressed up for work. No “casual Fridays” either. So there will be a large amount of shopping at some point — I haven’t had to dress up for work in…oh at least 10 years or so. Yikes.

So many things have changed in such a short period of time! I closed the business on Sunday…was dumped Saturday…and am going to meet my potential new co-workers on Wednesday. Yikes. If I manage to cling to whatever shred of sanity I have left, hopefully I will be gainfully employed next Monday.
I’m excited about the new job — and it will get me out of the neighborhood every day…which is a good thing. And I’ll finally have my evenings and weekends free again…wow.
So other than the broken heart issue…I’m doing well. And perhaps that issue will resolve itself, too…who knows.

Went to the best party tonight. Pictures will be posted on my facebook page. I’m ready to go back to my regularly scheduled life — if you know me well, you know what I mean.

I met someone today. Well, not in person, but via email and IM…and his website. He’s come up with an interesting proposition for a business…but we’d need serious financial backing — not tons of money, but more than we have, certainly.
Okay if I can pull this rabbit out of my ass…or my hat…whichever…wow.
Will keep you posted.

I am looking for a buyer for Evelyn’s. To make a long story short, I’m burned out…for many reasons, and I need to move on and focus on other parts of my life. If you’re interested in buying the business, let me know — everything in the cafe (with the exception of my personal junk) comes with the business, so you’re ready to go…and if you’re really nice, I’ll show you how to make the chicken salad. All reasonable offers considered…and the price is probably a lot lower than you think.
Stop by if you’re interested.
I’m planning on living here still, so I’ll be around the neighborhood.
The business will probably remain open until the end of the month — I’d love to have the new person open in October so the neighborhood doesn’t have to deal with yet another closed business.

Rain or shine — this time I nixed having a booth. So if it rains, you’re welcome to hang here with us — it should be a fun day…
I baked some stuff, too. Woot.

Yet another big gap between blog posts — my goodness, you’d think I was busy…or something. Passed out in the gutter doesn’t count, folks. Just sayin’.
Not much is new — I walked down to Harbor East with one of the girls Sunday night to see Pineapple Express. Seriously. Stupid. Yet. Funniest. Movie. Ever. And I had the munchies afterwards. Hmmm. Oh — and we stopped by Taco Fiesta before the movie — hellooooo fish tacos. Mmmm….excellent. Good guacamole, too.
So have you been keeping up with the Baltimore John Watch blog? OMG…photo posts. I’m dying. They’re absolutely brilliant.
So that’s all I have for now — things are going on (kinda good stuff) and all is well.

This year’s Pigtown festival should be great — it’s September 6th, so please save the date. Lots of food and music…and a great way to meet your neighbors — especially if you’re a new resident. It’s held on Washington Boulevard from the 700 block to the 900 block.
For more information, or to download a vendor application, please click here.
No, I won’t have a booth this year, but I will definitely be open!!

Apparently some people in the neighborhood are tired of being preyed upon by men searching for a good time with a hooker (can’t say I blame the residents…who wants that shit in the neighborhood?) And apparently some of those men are upset that there is now a website devoted to reporting their illegal activities.
I especially chuckled over the “It’s an invasion of our privacy!” argument…oh give me a break. You’re having your [fill in the blank] sucked in an alley for five dollars, and you’re whining about your privacy being invaded? Seriously?
Ah, but what do I know? I’m just a yuppie barista.
